Control scheme removes fun

(v1.0.2) I am a big fan of Ambrosias Mac software, so I wanted to like this game. However, the control scheme isnt very intuitive, and left me feeling detached from the game, an observer rather than a player. I also ran into a serious bug where the in-game control screen was rotated counter to the game and partly off-screen, leaving some of the controls inaccessible, but Im sure that one will be fixed eventually. Game play hints seem to appear only once, at intervals when youre trying to play. I suggest Sol Free, which has a better (but still not great) control scheme.

Cool design, but some problems

I love this beautiful design and cool effects, but every time when I completed Spider games, the ending screen didint appear and I was counted as lost. It seems like huge bug.

A bit misleading

This offers the 5 top games, but not all the OPTIONS of the top 5 games. For example, it offers Klondike, but only the turn-3 version. The more expensive versions Klondike offers an option of turn-3 or turn-1.

Thats not correct

edisoncarter, what you stated is not correct. The same options that are available in Mondo Solitaire are also available in Mondo Top 5 Solitaire -- including the variants of Klondike that youre looking for. Just tap on a game, and whether youre in CoverFlow view or List view, youll see the options available to you for the game (scroll down to see more options).

App that hits my favorite solitaire card games

I waited to buy a card-game app, because I wanted to get one app (instead of multiple apps), and I wanted to have at least klondike and freecell in that app. And, well, I didnt want to spend much. The full Mondo solitaire game is way more than I want, but this trimmed-down version had the games I wanted. (it happens that Golf would have been my third favorite game, so really this had all that I wanted). So far Ive played a few games, and I like the way the games work. There are a few nice time-saving features, and includes instructions and some options for each game. Also has an undo/redo feature. Minor nitpick: I wish there was a preference as to which way the game is displayed. Id like to play Freecell with the headphone cable coming out the left-side, but the way the cards are shown I have to play it with the cable coming out the right side. I cant compare this to any of the other card-game apps available for the iphone, but offhand Id say that this seems to do everything Id want it to do. Im sure Ill think of something over time. Its probably closer to a 4.5 than a 5.0 for a rating, but Id say its easily more than a 4.0.

Pretty decient app. with some minor anoyances

I was trying to find something that was like Klondike on my iPod 80GB and this came about as close as you can get in look and ease of use. I do have to say there are some bugs that need to be addressed. 1. somethimes the options screen (the one that pops up when you double tap) comes up rotated the wrong way and the screen width cuts it off. 2. the Pryramid game is impossible! ive played this game 150 times in a row and could not win it. Actually i dont think its possible to win. i got down to ZERO cards left and nothing happend. I still had cards in my bottom "delt pile" but at that point you cant make matches with nothing. perhaps you have to plan it out so well that youre left witn no cards but thats next to impossible. im no solitare genius but i can win all the other games in this app no problem. As a guage, I can win Golf once every 30 games with the ace/king wrap function on. 3. the "Pharos" priamid game crashes every time and it almsost impossible to clear out because when you reload the game it brings up the pharos game agian and crashes agian. please fix this bug! anyway i like this app just wish some of these small anoyances were resolved.

Not quite there yet

Sorry, but this one needs more time in the oven. Spider is broken - its difficult or impossible to drag stacks to the final pile, and if/when they are all gone, the game just sits there and doesnt finish. A little more intelligence would be nice also - double-tapping a complete K-A stack should take it out, not move it to an open row! Id also like to see other some default double-tap decisions to streamline the play, like automatically moving to the like suit when there are two options. I can always undo in the rare case that isnt what I want. Hold off on this until its updated from 1.0.2.

A great package at the right price

I found the controls very intuitive, the interface quite clean, and all with only a couple quirks here and there. For those looking for a quick, cheap game of solitaire, what you get here, especially for the price, cant be beaten.

Programming issues

Cant win at spider as K-A moves to empty not discard. Play out doesnt work at all. Please fix!

An OK solitaire app.

Easy to read the cards, and I like the paperclip/magnifier idea to select more than one. However, the implementation of tap-to-move is too smart, it automatically makes each move without confirmation - takes the fun out of searching for the destination yourself. With drag & drop, I find my finger gets tired after too much dragging across the glass. If I could, Id give it a 3.5.

Needs work

Finished a game of Freecell and was left with a 3 of clubs, meaning there was five 3 cards in the deck, making the game impossible to win.

Klondike Solitare

I finally found Klondike Solitare, but does anyone ever win on this game?

Microsoft strategy for updates

Spider is unusable and there are several bugs in settings; has yet to be updated in the three months Ive had it. Could be the best in appstore if not for laisse faire attitude towards bugs

So disappointing

Ambrosia is my favorite software developer. Hands down. That makes this all the more heartbreaking. Klondike: it feels so clunky. The way the screen flashes when you move a card is not indicative of the smooth polished look and feel of even their oldest games. The best, most intuitive version I have played is the stock one that comes on the iPod nano 3g and 4g. I figured they would blow that one out of the water but I cant even get into it. Free cell: again with the clunky feel. Moving a card to a different stack is like riding in a car with someone who doesnt know how to shift smoothly. The paper clip stopped working too. I cant move bunches of cards anymore. The little zoom bubble opens but I cant slide around anymore. Anxiously and hopefully awaiting a major update. :(

Have to flip 3 cards

In Klondike one is not allowed to flip one card at a time. Please update.

Almost unplayable

Latest update didnt fix the problem. Used to be a good game now its too slow

Great!

Ive played almost 200 hours without a single problem.

Very well done

Ive had several solitaire games. This one is my favorite and the only one that I have kept on all of my iPhones. Well well done. Smooth graphics sounds can get a bit old tho.

Great for a free game.

Ive tried a few solitaire games for the iPhone, and this is the last one Ill need. Great!

Slick interface does not work

Freecell interface, while it may look ingenuous in screenshots, does not actually work effectively. Incredibly frustrating.
